BP will pay $20 million and plead guilty to a misdemeanor violation of the federal Water Pollution Act for the largest oil spill ever on the North Slope, U.S. Justice Department officials said today. The $20 million is part of $373 million in fines and restitution BP agreed to pay for a variety of criminal acts.
